Kobe Bryant was born in Philadelphia, PA on August 23, 1978. The hype with Kobe started young as he was drafted straight out of high school and landed a great job in the NBA playing with Shaq. The two led the Los Angeles Lakers to 3 straight championships but then the team faltered a bit as Shaq became injury proned and was eventually traded to Miami. Kobe has his share of problems as he was accused of sexual assault at a physical rehab center in Colorado. The charges were eventually dropped, but Kobe's career was definitely sidetracked for a while. Kobe is truly a scoring machine in the NBA with a likeness to Michael Jordan and his ability to dribble and float in mid-air to get his shot off. Kobe was asked to be traded from the Lakers in recent years but has stuck it out during the tough times and finally got some good players around him this year. Perhaps Kobe can prove to everyone, including himself, that he can win a championship without Shaquille O'Neal. Kobe has led the NBA in scoring several times and his athletic prowess still gets him onto the All-Star team each year.
